Upgrading the Carnegie Memorial Pool
An Albanese Labor Government will rebuild the much-loved Carnegie Memorial Pool, building a contemporary community aquatic facility ready to serve the community for generations to come.
As locals know, the Carnegie Memorial Pool has been closed since November 2020, when a catastrophic leak was identified as causing the loss of over 150,000 litres of water each day.
Given the significant cost of repairs and the deteriorated state of the 55-year-old facility, the pool has since been unable to reopen.
By partnering with the Glen Eira City Council, an Albanese Labor Government will invest $15 million to help bring a new and improved pool to the local community.
This new facility will include:
- An outdoor 50 metre pool and dive pool
- Indoor warm pater program pool and learn-to-swim pool
- Sauna, steam room and spa
- Café
- Splash pool
- BBQ and shaded seating
- And indoor dry rooms for community services.
Importantly, the new facility will be accessible to the whole community. The Pool is now on track to re-open at the end of 2024.
Only an Albanese Labor Government will invest in the facilities the Glen Eira community deserves.
